REVIEW: We All Scream for Ice Cream by Lou Yardley

    April 25, 2022 /

If you are planning on grabbing some Ice Cream to eat during this recent pleasant weather…maybe think twice. Lou Yardley is known for bringing the gore to her stories and We All Scream for Ice Cream is no different. I love ice cream of all different flavours, strawberry, raspberry, salted caramel, I love them all. I, however, do not like Ice cream cones that attack children and tear them limb from limb. It’s a story that will have me side-eyeing Ice cream vans from now until eternity. It’s a fine line between an innocent ice cream seller to psychopathic octopus like monster that wants to end you. Katelyn and her…

Banished by Lou Yardley | Review

    October 11, 2020 /

Banished is the newest offering from one of my favourite indie authors, Lou Yardley.  She teaches us that deception is a fruit best left well alone.  Every village has its secrets and Elkbury is no exception, the residents will find this out the hard way.  Wren, Hedwin and the villagers will come to regret no questioning everything.  On the outside it seems they all have the perfect life – a safe village to live out their lives, no death and disease, all thanks to a secret ceremony called The Banishment.  You know what they say about illusions, they are there to be shattered.  The Banishment ceremony should ensure that murder…

Review: Darkened Wings Flutter by Lou Yardley

    April 13, 2020 /

Darkened Wings Flutter is a story that categorically highlight the reasons why everything isn’t as it seems.  A story so dark and evil it makes your insides clench and your spine stiffen.  Lou Yardley has once again stepped up that benchmark of bone aching horror. Review of The Deal Maker.  She knows what her readers ache for and she delivers with eye popping clarity.  This is the kind of horror that unseats you, makes you deftly uncomfortable and hurtles you into the story at one hundred miles per hour.  Moths and Monsters meet humanity.  Cancel your plans, kick back and experience the high dimensional terror that awaits you! Chuck. Ryan.…

Review: The Deal Maker by Lou Yardley

    April 2, 2020 /

What would you do if your girlfriend, the love of your life was taken and there is no clues to as your whereabouts?  The Deal Maker is a story of revenge at its very core.  The story grabs you by the throat, the grip getting stronger, cutting your oxygen off from the very first page until that last hit to the jugular.  In my honest to goodness opinion, this is the kind of novel that Stephen King wishes he wrote.  The narrative is as sharp and mind-blowing as a guillotine.  Its delivery is as devastating as it is masterful.  What would make someone do a deal with a demon?  The…
