The Eyes Of Darkness by Dean Koontz|Review

    July 8, 2020 / 5 Comments

The Eyes of Darkness.  A title that gave me chills as I inhaled this spectacular, genre busting novel.  A government whose role it is meant to be to protect the citizens of their country.  They aren’t meant to cover up a catastrophic accident and keep a grieving mother from finding out the true cause of her sons’ demise.  This novel is the best example at highlighting that the human condition is the real monsters lurking in the dark.  Their penchant for control, devastation and blood thirsty violence is the main theme played throughout.  Sounds intriguing, right?  The Eyes of Darkness was magnetic.  Every time I put the book down to…

    Wilthaven By Oli Jacobs| Review

    June 26, 2020 / 3 Comments

Wilthaven, what a fucking ride you were!  This book encapsulates everything that indie published can offer.  Would I have heard of it if I weren’t approached to review? No.  Did I enjoy the tale told, absofuckinglutely?  The title of the book gives nothing away – a world with rolling hills, luscious green grass, stunning lakes and an evil that rules over them all.  Not exactly a utopia but you can’t deny that you aren’t intrigued.  A deep and compelling story with writing as sharp as a tack.  With a synopsis that pulls you in like a long-awaited fish, my kindle was gripped beyond an inch of its life. “The World…

Blog Tour: Until Summer Comes Around by Glenn Rolfe

    May 22, 2020 / 1 Comment

Don’t you just love a sweet and innocent coming of age story?  Yeah, neither do I.  If you love your coming of age stories to be full of blood, guts, and a creeping dread, then absolutely pick up Until Summer Comes Round.  It blasts you with those feel good eighties summer vibes – the feeling that summer would never end.  It just has that bonus of vampires and the spilling of blood.  There is so much packed into this novel written by the immensely talented Glenn Rolfe.  Every word has been deliberately chosen and they come to life with such a sinister prevalence that you feel the need to look…

Blog Tour: Switchboard by Andrew Post

    May 14, 2020 / 1 Comment

Switchboard is one of those novels that leave you asking a predominate question – What the fuck did I just read?  This is in no way a negative emotion.  I was immersed into the seedy underbelly of the plot in which time had no relevance, so, I didn’t have an opportunity to fully process the implications and the impact the themes brought about within me.  Within the box that Andrew Post created was essentially a haunted house story but with a visceral edge that completely unseated you and crafted so superbly that you felt as though your brain had developed an unreachable itch.  Police Lieutenant Dwayne Spare has obsessed his…

Wow.  Upon delving into Harrow Lake I’m not ashamed to admit I didn’t fully appreciate what I was getting into.  I thought it was going to be a plain sailing horror novel, a similar story but a story that was inevitable none the less.  WRONG.  I should have dug deeper just by one singular word used in the title – Harrow.  This story has the capability to encase your heart in ice, its harrowing and captivating and pushes ice cold water through your veins.  Be prepared for the author to give you a remarkably unique journey through your worst fears and leave you rocking in the corner by the closing…

The Wise Friend is a lesson in the age-old conundrum- should you believe everything you read?  How much do you know the people posing as your friends?  Are there ulterior motives?  The storyline chills your spine with liquid nitrogen.  It makes you stiffen up, look over your shoulder and take stock all at the same time.  its haunting and disturbing with its threatening edge that has you wandering down an unused path that can only lead to devastation.  It is an exquisite piece of literature with its use of macabre to transport the reader to another world, one with twists and an undeniable edge that just talked to you instantly. …
