The Marriage Act by John Marrs

    February 18, 2023 / 1 Comment

The Marriage Act highlights the true cost of having liberties stripped. Cleverly woven and makes you truly sit and think. Addictive to the end. The Marriage Act…well what can I say? For one I was afraid, John Marrs has a devilish mind. As a married woman, it still brought a chill to my veins. I enjoy being married, but as a choice, I wouldn’t want to feel railroaded into it. I wouldn’t want that choice to be marred by outside sources. I wouldn’t want that very important decision to be made because as a couple we could get lower mortgage rates, better cars, better homes, and access to healthcare at…

Wait For Me by J.M. McKenzie – BLOG TOUR

    February 7, 2023 / 1 Comment

Wait For Me is a dystopian tale that skillfully balances love and danger. Although there is a zombie apocalypse going on in the background McKenzie keeps the focus on the characters. Her creativity is on display throughout. Horror is really amazing at the moment. We are blessed with having such a wide range of sub-genres to get our teeth into. Nothing makes my black heart come to life more than Dystopian and Zombie horror stories. I don’t know why as consumers of horror we allow ourselves to enjoy tales of survival that at the centre are viruses that create zombies that will feast on your flesh if you aren’t quick…

The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey | Review

    January 18, 2021 / 4 Comments

The Girl with All The gifts.  I really don’t know why it took me so long to get around to this one because it was simply amazing.  I don’t know what I was expecting but this really wasn’t it.  I think it made me feel everything so intensely because it was centred around the protagonist, a young child called Melanie.  I raced ahead; everything was just so engaging that by the time I reached the end I felt wrought with emotional exhaustion.  The zombie apocalypse seen through the eyes of a child.  It really was a fresh and interesting take on the zombie novel.  I’m a wee bit of a…

Blog Tour| Crossing In Time by D.L. Orton

Crossing in Time truly does transcend genres, I never felt I was able to fully pin down a specific genre.  It’s heavy in science fiction with a romantic element underpinning its DNA.  It drums a love story through its veins, one that lasts the ages and time and you should be aware of this if you delve into its pages.  I was gifted an audio copy of the book and I wasn’t disappointed at the realism and the sheer talent of the narrators in bringing this story to life.  The passion they both felt for the story was conveyed and it made it a truly immersive experience.  I’m such a…

Space exploration.  It’s always been the unattainable for the regular man.  Its been my ultimate dream to see the black and ever stretching unknown.  What would you see and hear?  Could it possibly be everything that you had hoped or dreamed, or would it never live up to your fantastical expectations?  Goldilocks gives the reader a first-class ticket to far away planet, Cavendish.  Your feet will be the first to touch down, to see the sights never before witnessed but what would life truly be like being one of those first woman on an unknown world.  What happens as one of those chosen ones?
