Bookish Gift Guide 2019
I had planned to do this post a little earlier than this but reviews and christmas shopping and just general life has been crazy. I’m sure you have all purchased your gifts for your loved ones but just incase I’m sharing some awesome bookish gifts (that aren’t books!) I’m the only hardcore reader in my home (so I hope my husband is listening!) and I love getting bookish themed presents. So, share the list around, get ideas and spread the book love! Book Subscription Boxes Illumicrate is a Fantasy themed monthly box that I currently subscribe to. They include a Limited Illumicrate Edition book that usually has gorgeous sprayed/stencilled edges…

Blog Tour: 17 Church Row by James Carol
Many Thanks to Tracy @ Compulsive Readers and the publisher for my spot on the blog tour and a copy of the book. My review is honest and unbiased. Wow…this novel blew my tiny mind. The thriller genre is my favourite and sometimes they can get a little bit samey, but this renewed my love for the genre tenfold! The topic was scarily relevant to the times we now find ourselves living in and makes you think about just how easy it is to put things out there on the internet. It made me think and ponder just how much myself and my peers live our lives on the stage…

Review: Dazzled By Jane Harvey-Berrick
It’s always going to be a difficult task to go against the grain of what appears to be a much-loved popular book. I know reading is very much a personal thing, but I feel I need to get my views on paper. I felt I needed a break from the thrillers/police procedurals/fantasy novels that I love so I randomly picked a romance novel from my goodreads TBR. Alas I started reading Dazzled. On first sight it looked like a cute, quick fun read. It was penned as a New Adult novel, and I’m afraid after reading it I felt quite concerned at the message that it was portraying to girls…

Review: Black Widow (Jack Parlabane #7) By Christopher Brookmyre
This is the second book I’ve read by Christopher Brookmyre, the first being a sci-fi number. This was a different read but no less awesome. Brookmyre yet again delivers the addictive, dark fictional worlds we have come to expect from him, and he nails it home each time. This is a mystery/thriller series that I’m going to go back and read more of because it literally ticks all of my boxes. Thrills ✔️, murder ✔️unreliable narrator✔️ and twists ✔️ Although this was the first in series I happened to pick up, this definitely works as a standalone novel. The writing style of Brookmyre is shrewd, evocative and quite frankly spine-tingling. …

Blog Tour: Degrees of Guilt by H.S. Chandler
Holy crap…What an opening chapter! Such violence and degradation. What would break a woman down so much that she cracks her husband’s skull open and calmly phones the police whilst her his brains trickle out onto the immaculately polished floor. Are things as they seem or is Maria a cold-blooded killer? Is it pre-meditated and what’s the reason behind wanting him dead? Can you honestly say you couldn’t imagine yourself killing another human being, no matter the reasons or motive? If you say absolutely not, I would challenge that thought, any human has the innate ability to carry such basal actions out. Chandler takes us there – straight out of…
