A Time Of Dread by John Gwynne | Review
Dear John, As a book blogger who thought that she had already read the best in fantasy, is outrageously proved wrong and now isn’t really sure how I am going to write this review. I want to do A Time Of Dread justice, I want my blog readers to pick this one up and above all I want them to feel the emotions that you wrought upon me. The feelings that I got when I opened the book until the point when I closed the end cover and took a deep breath, as I realised that I hadn’t just read a book but had consumed art. The Fantasy genre Is…

The Reluctant Mother by Hemmie Martin | Review (Audio)
The Reluctant Mother. How many times is this a glaring foghorn in many women’s lives? This story was a bit of a throwback for me personally. I didn’t suffer with Post-Partum Psychosis but quite severe PND with my first child. I was a brand-new mother at the tender age of nineteen and was now faced with the reality of a disabled son. It was raw and grieving to a point and unfortunately the bonding wasn’t as immediate as I had hoped. The story is raw and slow – paced but it is everything that it needs to be. It’s 369 pages of pain and misguided mistakes. A mother. The image…

Abberton House by Debbie Ioanna | Blog Tour
Abberton House gave me serious cover love. A house has an impact upon its environment and in this story’s case – the families too. An imposing shadow, a constant watcher through time. A gothic horror that is perfect for the start of spooky season – definitely one to add to your never-ending TBR pile. A story to unnerve you, because instantly you get a creeping sense of dread, red alarm going off in your head, an itch you can’t scratch but I was absolutely here for it. Once again, Panther Publishing are knocking it out of the park with their horror line and are fast becoming my go to indie…

The Bride Stripped Bare by Rob Bliss| Review
The Bride Stripped Bare, a deadly synopsis that threatened to push boundaries and scare the wits clean out of you. The execution however was quite far off the mark. I enjoyed the book to the extent that I believed it was intended to deliver upon. However, some elements just seemed to be injected into the plot for purely shock factor, but it had the exact opposite effect on my reading experience. Don’t get me wrong shocking implications have a place but not in the sacrifice of the plot. You’ve met the woman of your dreams. Stunningly good-looking, money falling out of the sky when she’s around and power that will…

The Eyes Of Darkness by Dean Koontz|Review
The Eyes of Darkness. A title that gave me chills as I inhaled this spectacular, genre busting novel. A government whose role it is meant to be to protect the citizens of their country. They aren’t meant to cover up a catastrophic accident and keep a grieving mother from finding out the true cause of her sons’ demise. This novel is the best example at highlighting that the human condition is the real monsters lurking in the dark. Their penchant for control, devastation and blood thirsty violence is the main theme played throughout. Sounds intriguing, right? The Eyes of Darkness was magnetic. Every time I put the book down to…

Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano|Review
Dear Edward…Prepare for a cry fest! It combines everything I love in Contemporary novels, a soul-destroying plot, tug at your heart strings characters and a narrative that has me hugging my loved ones for dear life! It’s not the first time that I’ve thought of myself as a masochist. A family relocating. Multiple lives forever intertwined through disaster. Loneliness. A boy left broken. Element of a plot that in any other dimension would make for a truly devastating effect. Only Ann Napolitano could take these effects and manage to align the stars. To bring a sense of ease and rightness by the final page. The originality tears at you. You…
