Review: Our Bloody Pearl by D.N. Byrn
I received a free copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. The world building in Our Bloody Pearl was transcendent and vibrant, the characterisation was strong and overall this was an entertaining read. The sea calls to me; in the tow of the tide and the salt in the breeze. But it calls to me loudest the moment the storm hits Perle hates humans. Why wouldn’t she? Dear god, she’s a mermaid (known as a siren) and her beauty and rawness has been captured by a complete dickwad of a pirate, Kiran. She is ruthless, a savage and will…

Blog Tour: Degrees of Guilt by H.S. Chandler
Holy crap…What an opening chapter! Such violence and degradation. What would break a woman down so much that she cracks her husband’s skull open and calmly phones the police whilst her his brains trickle out onto the immaculately polished floor. Are things as they seem or is Maria a cold-blooded killer? Is it pre-meditated and what’s the reason behind wanting him dead? Can you honestly say you couldn’t imagine yourself killing another human being, no matter the reasons or motive? If you say absolutely not, I would challenge that thought, any human has the innate ability to carry such basal actions out. Chandler takes us there – straight out of…

Review: Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
We the Legion, We the Light and burning bright against the night Aurora Rising is dangerously dark, action packed, and an addictive kick off to Kaufman & Kristoff’s Trilogy Aurora Cycle. For someone that is a virgin to this dynamic duo’s writing – I was blown away into outer space. I’m going to miss the draft – intriguing opening line, who doesn’t love a bit of angst on the opening page? This awesome tale reminds me of a Guardians of the Galaxy X Battlestar Galactica – Be still my geeky heart! Tyler Jones – Alpha of the squad, general hotbod and all-round good guy. Aurora Lie-Jin O’ Malley – Frozen…

Deserve to Die by Miranda Rijks
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are my own. Thanks to Emma@Damppebbles for my spot on the blog tour. When Emma @ Damppebbles book tours sent out an email asking if there was interest in taking part in the blog tour for Deserve to Die I knew I just had to be involved. The cover and the blurb just had all my thriller Spidey senses tingling. The title spins a yarn of game playing, deceit, mental illness and past hurts. You can change everything about yourself but only one thing is certain – you can never outrun your past. A beautiful woman and a…

Voyager (Outlander #3) by Diana Gabaldon
We continue onwards with Jamie and Claire’s story with Voyager. Twenty years have passed since Claire passed back through the stones again leaving the love of her life behind and emerging back in the future Pregnant with Jamie’s daughter, Brianna. Can an absent love survive the test of time? A tale of a lost love, duty and pain. I was really looking forward to getting stuck into this one but there was a few things that left me feeling supremely disappointed, this is upsetting as I was fully invested in Claire and Jamie’s story. I started this book over a week ago (this is an unusually large amount of time…
