Fifty-Fifty By Steve Cavanagh|Review
You don’t review books long before you come across the name Steve Cavanagh. The name is synonymous with the Thriller genre and if you haven’t read anything penned by this ingenious man, then why not? Fifty-Fifty is his new offering. Fifty-Fifty is a blast to the genitals. Its swift, precise and you are left reeling on the floor. I am obsessed with courtroom dramas. This began when I was a member of a Jury – the atmosphere, the tension and the responsibility emits a fizzing spark within me. Watching and waiting to see just how it is going to pan out. Sisters. Surely, they are united in shared family experiences? …

Review: The Southern Book Clubs Guide To Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix
The Southern Book Clubs Guide To Slaying Vampires is a truly unforgettable book and its insane ability to make you feel everything. The intensity and the raw and gritty edge this book has over other Vampire books that you feel so wrought -out – think running a marathon! This is my first outing into a Hendrix novel and I know it won’t be my last. I have an addiction and Hendrix is my fiction dealer! Be prepared for a journey back to the nineties – big hair, outrageous florals and blood sucking vampires. Patricia Campbell is your perfect host, mother and wife. On the surface she has it all…Doctor husband…

Blog Tour: The F*ck-It List by John Niven
Nothing quite like The F*ck-It List says welcome to a disenchanted America. I mean welcome in the most sarcastic and seeped in satire way possible. In many ways this book is a window into the future if things don’t change. Its nightmarish and I can’t think of anything that would resemble hell on earth. A life where the most basic of human rights have been extradited. This book plays on our fears and hopes pulls them taut and suffocates us with the implications. I had so many feelings whilst reading this book and I did see the parallels between The F*ck-It List and Breaking Bad. Frank Brill is both a…

Review: Snakes and Ladders by Victoria Selman
Wow…Snakes and Ladders was the dog’s testicles for sure! Billed as psycho meets Silence of the lambs, never was I going to refuse a match up like that! Although this book is one that you should go completely blind into. It was very Silence of the lambs, but it far exceeded my expectations. Do you want a book that will give you blunt force trauma by its sheer brilliant narrative and its impending threat that just constantly lurks around every corner. If you only read one crime series this year, make it this one! Victoria Selman translates such equivocal storytelling onto the page with such ease. She gives the reader…

Review: The Deal Maker by Lou Yardley
What would you do if your girlfriend, the love of your life was taken and there is no clues to as your whereabouts? The Deal Maker is a story of revenge at its very core. The story grabs you by the throat, the grip getting stronger, cutting your oxygen off from the very first page until that last hit to the jugular. In my honest to goodness opinion, this is the kind of novel that Stephen King wishes he wrote. The narrative is as sharp and mind-blowing as a guillotine. Its delivery is as devastating as it is masterful. What would make someone do a deal with a demon? The…

Review: The Ice Dragon by George R.R. Martin
This little book is a family favourite in our house. I originally heard it on audio years ago and fell in love with the beauty of the story. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a massive fan of GRRM. I read the Song of Ice and Fire series before I got around to this gem, but I could never be disappointed with GRRM beautiful prose. The illustrations are the finishing touch to a beautiful yet devastating story. No-one can write fantasy and capture the magic just like George can. He brings life and vitality to his characters, they grow up with us, they stay with us and we…
