The Lament of the Silver Badger by Oli Jacobs | Review
The Lament of the Silver Badger is a collection of horror short stories by Oli Jacobs. Once again, the author has knocked it out of the mother-fucking park! I’ve read more than a few short story collections of late and can hand on heart say that this is the best one I’ve read to date. Let me just clarify my feelings and thoughts during my read of this awesome collection. WHAT THE HELL? WHAT DID I JUST READ? IT’S COMING, ITS TOTALLY COMING NO WAY… THAT CAN’T BE THE END!! THIS IS AWESOME These were my thoughts while reading Oli Jacob’s highly imaginative short story collection. You know you’ve found…

The Station 17 Chronicles by Oli Jacobs | Review
Another year is drawing a close and whilst the times we are living in Is unknown and uncertain, one thing has become abundantly clear; we can rely on books to get us through. 2020 has brought me some new authors, especially ones that publish independently. The Station 17 Chronicles is the second book I have read and reviewed by Oli Jacobs and I’m stunned once again by his sharp wit, well-structured prose, and fantastical storylines. He has become a must-read author and I will go on to read his back catalogue. He was able to shock me and make my head implode with his stonker novel, Wilthaven. The Station 17…

Winter’s Fury by A.E. Rayne | Review
Winter’s Fury…yet another Norse inspired novel that has indeed broken me. An ending that only has you downloading book two and screaming into the void! An ending that will only have you yelling the authors name, but without A.E. Rayne’s dastardly writing skills, there would be no Winter’s Fury. It’s taken me a few days to write this review because I have been on a book hungover, adrenaline intoxicated state. This is the second Norse -inspired book that I’ve read in under a week and I seriously think I’ve found my fantasy sub-genre niche. Let’s take a small walk and allow me to show you just why I ended up…

Starving Ghosts in Every Thread by Eric LaRocca | Review
I have a problem. I really do not know how to articulate into words this review! I know, I know it sounds super dramatic, BUT Starving Ghosts in Every Thread is a compact work of art! The opening chapter had my mind running wild. The beautiful narrative, in its almost poetic monologue had me captured like a fish on a hook! Eric LaRocca has pushed the limits between horror and symbolism. I had the distinct feeling that I was reading one thing but LaRocca was inviting you to look further, to peel each disturbing layer back until you had the full story. Our protagonist, Teddy is a girl that is…

Leash and Other Horror Stories by Brett Schumacher | Review
When I spotted Leash and Other Horror Stories up for grabs for review, I could have chewed their hand off! I am a subscriber to Brett’s awesome YouTube channel and I just couldn’t wait to get my grubby mitts on this seriously creepy horror anthology. This collection of deviously good stories warrants the shouting that I’m about to do! His narrative style is both mind-blowing and wickedly disturbing in equal measures and it immediately transports you into the depths of his orchestrated shadows – it’s terrifying and bone chilling. I’m a huge fan and I gobbled this up just as fast as I would a cake! Leash had a paradoxical…

Reaper: A Horror Novella by Jonathon Pongratz | Review
Reaper was one of those reads that will fester upon the psyche. It will allow you to get on with everyday things but in the dead of night it will re-emerge and make you realise that sleep will be futile. Right from the start we can feel the deep-seated fear that everything is not as it seems. Halloween – a breeding ground for all that is unnatural and terrifying. A long-awaited opportunity to take care of a little sister without their overbearing parents. One should be careful what you wish for. I’m always intrigued when reading POV’s from a teenage viewpoint. They are not quite matured for the big bad…
