The Girl and the Mountain by Mark Lawrence | Book Review
The Girl and the Mountain yet another stonking story from Mark Lawrence. Once again, the author had that perfect formula for breaking me. It’s a straight run on from The Girl and the Stars, it didn’t skip a beat, not for one second and I settled into meeting old friends again. An ending that had me needing more, an ending that proved just how addictive Lawrence’s writing is. His writing skills are so dastardly and intoxicating that its impossible not to race to the end. I’ve had to wait a few days to write this review because I have been living in a hungover, adrenaline intoxicated state. Let’s take a…

The Court Of Miracles by Kester Grant | Review
Thanks to Netgalley and Harper Voyager for an ARC of The Court Of Miracles. A retelling you say? A mash-up between The Jungle Book and Les Misérables? That was an instant moment of hell yes, I am reading that! The Court Of Miracles is the first book in what is anticipated to be a three-book series and boy if the other two can deliver on what Book 1 has done then Kester Grant is on to a winner. This Young Adult Fantasy brought everything to the table and more. Espionage. Political intrigue. Double crossing. The story flew through me much like an elegant swan preparing for flight. It was smooth…

Blog Tour: The Girl And The Stars by Mark Lawrence
The Girl And The Stars is certainly not Mark Lawrence’s first rodeo. However, It is the most poignant epic fantasy that I have experienced in a long time. The story envelops you like a long lost relative after decades apart…everything about it just feels right. This is the kind of story that leaves you grappling with the fight for cognitive cohesion. How on earth do you get your thoughts down in a review in regard to a book of this magnitude. The narrative took me hostage and posted my ransom. I didn’t want to be found, I wanted to be immersed in this world for the foreseeable future. My kindle only…

Review: The Ice Dragon by George R.R. Martin
This little book is a family favourite in our house. I originally heard it on audio years ago and fell in love with the beauty of the story. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a massive fan of GRRM. I read the Song of Ice and Fire series before I got around to this gem, but I could never be disappointed with GRRM beautiful prose. The illustrations are the finishing touch to a beautiful yet devastating story. No-one can write fantasy and capture the magic just like George can. He brings life and vitality to his characters, they grow up with us, they stay with us and we…

Magician by Raymond. E. Feist
WOW…Completely blown away by this fantasy classic. Magician was truly magical, and it has filled the whole that has been left behind by Game of Thrones. For the gamer geeks out there, it totally has a Skyrim epicness to its storytelling. Do you want Trolls, Elves and magical beings? Strap in because you’re in for a bumpy ride. I am recently new to the Fantasy Genre after having my husband introduce me to Game of Thrones, but it is fast becoming my favourite genre. Magician was first published in the 80’s but it is certainly standing the test of time. Magician opens in Crydee, an outpost in the Kingdom of…
