Blog Tour| Crossing In Time by D.L. Orton

    June 17, 2020 /

Crossing in Time truly does transcend genres, I never felt I was able to fully pin down a specific genre.  It’s heavy in science fiction with a romantic element underpinning its DNA.  It drums a love story through its veins, one that lasts the ages and time and you should be aware of this if you delve into its pages.  I was gifted an audio copy of the book and I wasn’t disappointed at the realism and the sheer talent of the narrators in bringing this story to life.  The passion they both felt for the story was conveyed and it made it a truly immersive experience.  I’m such a…

Review: Foul Is Fair by Hannah Capin

    May 19, 2020 /

Where do I begin with Foul is Fair?  The premise of the story was one that had intrigued me wholeheartedly.  A revenge thriller with a feministic twist.  A classic retelling based upon Macbeth that became darker and darker the further you travelled through its pages.  I want to include a trigger warning about the book before I go any further – It is a revenge tale after a sexual assault.  The premise is one that I would have expected to grab me and hold me hostage but the preceding emotion it left me with is an uncontrollable anger – the narrative within the story could be quite dangerous. It unfortunately,…

Blog Tour: Harrow Lake by Kat Ellis

    May 2, 2020 /

Wow.  Upon delving into Harrow Lake I’m not ashamed to admit I didn’t fully appreciate what I was getting into.  I thought it was going to be a plain sailing horror novel, a similar story but a story that was inevitable none the less.  WRONG.  I should have dug deeper just by one singular word used in the title – Harrow.  This story has the capability to encase your heart in ice, its harrowing and captivating and pushes ice cold water through your veins.  Be prepared for the author to give you a remarkably unique journey through your worst fears and leave you rocking in the corner by the closing…

The Black Sheep by Sophie McKenzie

    June 6, 2019 /

I really had high hopes for this book but it just fell flat for me unfortunately. Black Sheep is focussed around the events and the fallout after Francesca’s husband, Caspian is murdered in an apparently random attack. It deals with the effects within her close-knit Catholic family. Some reasons why it just didn’t work for me; Flaky Character building. We meet Francesca, a widowed mother of two. She is attending her deceased husband’s memorial service (he was murdered 16 months ago). She is approached by a stranger that flips her entire world upside down for the second time. The information that she receives from this man is that he had…

Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus

    May 11, 2019 /

Ellery and her twin brother Ezra arrive in Echo Ridge after their mother, Sadie has a mental breakdown. Their introduction to the town is somewhat foreboding of what is to come after discovering a dead body on the road. Ellery discovers that the town is drowning in secrets, several murders and disappearances of girls. The one things in common is that they are all homecoming queens or in the present day scenario, voting into homecoming court. Ellery is especially interested in the dark history of the town as her Mother’s twin sister, Sarah disappeared around twenty years ago in similar suspicious circumstances. Lacey is the next victim who is found…
