Fleshed Out by Rob Ulitski – REVIEW
Fleshed Out proves that its bark is just as devastating as its bite. Ulitski handles his wide range of characters with the finesse of a master storyteller. I can’t quite believe this is his DEBUT because there are novels out there that don’t have the nuance and unbridled skill that this one does. Fleshed Out is a short story anthology that is perpetually locked in the dark. It’s banging on the door demanding release, it’s insistent, it needs to be heard, to be listened to. When you finally give in and let it out, you question whether you would’ve ever truly been ready for it. A collection of body horror…

REVIEW: The Macabre: 6 Chilling Short Stories by Stuart James
The Macabre by Stuart James is a collection of six short stories that can only be described as most fatal. This author rips my heart out again and again and like some addicted book junkie I keep on coming back for more. You see, this is what James does best, he stomps out your heart with his powerful narratives and killer twists, he then hands you some Sellotape and expects you to piece together your broken heart. I loved James’ recent release Creeper and The House on Rectory Lane. I knew this short story collection was going to be good, but my expectations were exceeded. Imagine a game of rounders,…

Review : The Nothing That Is by Kyle Winkler
The Nothing That Is by Kyle Winkler was a huge surprise. Adrenaline and mystique keep the reader engaged. We get everything that we could possibly anticipate from an excellent Cosmic Horror. Winkler sets impossibly high standard from the get go. That exquisite level of imagination is continued throughout the novella. Trust Winkler and his vision, he doesn’t steer you wrong. The Nothing That Is is a creation that lives in the deepest recesses of a brilliant mind. His writing never once failed me. I love Cosmic Horror and the accuracy and shock value entranced me. The plot is a dangerous roller-coaster of strangeness and obscurity. It’s the perfect stage for…

Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman | Review
Good afternoon, and today I have a review to tie in with the Norsevember, a Norse themed readathon. It’s been a lot of fun rediscovering everything that I love about the mythology and I hope you enjoy my review of Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. “Because,” said Thor, “when something goes wrong, the first thing I always think is, it is Loki’s fault. It saves a lot of time.” NORSE MYTHOLOGY It really seemed like I had this book on my shelf forever so when Alex @Spells And Spaceships came up with a super cool readathon, I knew this bad boy was going to finally be given the attention it…

Review: Mad Hallelujah And Other Oddities by Owen Morgan
Mad Hallelujah and other Oddities is a work of literary genius. Have you ever wished your spouse away with a single word? How often have you seen a clump of hair stuck in the plug hole and pulled and been surprised by what lays beneath? Or a beautiful rose bush that signifies something far deeper and darker. Owen Morgan has delved feet first into topics that lay dormant in the back of our psyche and he has the key to unlock the cage to our darkest fears. He has made the unthinkable totally and utterly realistic. My favourite short story within the collection was either; Flower of Flesh and Blood…
