We Ride The Storm by Devin Madson | Book Review.

    December 17, 2020 /

Jesus Christ on a bike!  We Ride the Storm was a novel that was pure adrenaline.  Storm Noun a tumultuous reaction; an uproar or controversy. There is no disillusion hidden behind the pretext of name.  This book is a storm, and it aims to rile you up, as quickly as possible.  This story aims to shake up the fantasy genre and it does that and more.  Its an underrated gem that gleams, and the reader can’t help but fall deep for the magnificent prose and authentic worldbuilding.  The author doesn’t beat around the bush and she is happy to cut your throat in the first chapter and not even be…

Northern Wrath by Thilde Kold Holdt | Review

    November 22, 2020 /

Northern Wrath was a book from the gods themselves.  Revenge is deadly, the swish of a blade, a whispered promise.  This review is going to be exceedingly hard to write, and I hope I can deliver it the justice it deserves.  Fantasy should catapult you into another dimension and Northern Wrath achieved that within just a few pages.  Thilde Kold Holdt had me all in.  The prologue hit like a steam train…I could smell smoke and danger and I was looking over my shoulder at the threatening shadow that promised to become known.  My senses was a frenetic buzz of energy and I was totally here for it. Northern Wrath…

A Time Of Courage by John Gwynne | Review

    November 7, 2020 /

What a freaking ride!  A Time of Courage was everything I had hoped it would be.  My emotions are scattered, I’m shaking but above all else I am in awe of the raw and the brutality of John Gwynne’s penmanship.  I picked up the first book in the Of Blood and Bone series in the summer and it has easily become my favourite adult fantasy series, ever, and I have read a lot of adult fantasy!  Get ready for a finale that is action packed, swifter than a war-hammer to the face and so heart-breaking that it brings you straight to your knees.  A Time of Courage is a story…

A Time of Blood by John Gwynne | Review

    October 18, 2020 /

Please allow me a moment to breathe before getting into the guts of my A Time for Blood review.  I absolutely fell in love with A Time for Dread but book two blew my mind.  I have the utmost respect for John Gwynne’s writing style and his prowess of delivering a story with such raw intensity.  It’s a completely different type of magic.  I’ve got so many ARC copies I need to read at the moment but I just couldn’t deny what the heart wants – and it wanted to carry on with this series just like the body needs oxygen to breathe!  Better a hard truth than a kind…

A Time Of Dread by John Gwynne | Review

    September 27, 2020 /

Dear John, As a book blogger who thought that she had already read the best in fantasy, is outrageously proved wrong and now isn’t really sure how I am going to write this review.   I want to do A Time Of Dread justice, I want my blog readers to pick this one up and above all I want them to feel the emotions that you wrought upon me.  The feelings that I got when I opened the book until the point when I closed the end cover and took a deep breath, as I realised that I hadn’t just read a book but had consumed art. The Fantasy genre Is…

Sorcery Of A Queen by Brian Naslund | Review

    August 14, 2020 /

Thank you to Tor UK, Brian Naslund, Jamie-Lee Nardone and Stephen Haskins for a review copy of Sorcery Of A Queen. “You of all people should know how rumours go.  There’s a kernel of truth that gets inflated each time it passes from one drunken mouth to the next, until you have an enormous dragonslayer with a foot-long cock pissing down the neck-stumps of decapitated dragons.”  It has been such a pleasure to be back in the wonderful world of Terra once again.  The magic, the dragons, the relationships and the tongue-in-cheek humour.  Brian Naslund has this inert skill to just know the formula for have the brain completely enraptured…
