While My Eyes Were Closed by Linda Green
What would you do if your child went missing under your watch? How would you cope? Would you cope? As a parent myself this was a nightmarish scenario. As the story unfolded, I was shocked at the actions and dialogue and I was gripped and invested in the story to carry on reading. This could happen to anyone’s child, you hear about it all the time on the news. It’s a truly horrifying topic. The story spans three people’s perspectives, Lisa, Muriel and Matthew. Lisa is strong but cracking under the pressure. Lisa Dale, mother of three. She has a strained relationship with her eldest daughter, Chloe. Lisa takes her…

The Black Sheep by Sophie McKenzie
I really had high hopes for this book but it just fell flat for me unfortunately. Black Sheep is focussed around the events and the fallout after Francesca’s husband, Caspian is murdered in an apparently random attack. It deals with the effects within her close-knit Catholic family. Some reasons why it just didn’t work for me; Flaky Character building. We meet Francesca, a widowed mother of two. She is attending her deceased husband’s memorial service (he was murdered 16 months ago). She is approached by a stranger that flips her entire world upside down for the second time. The information that she receives from this man is that he had…

The one things in common is that they are all homecoming queens or in the present day scenario, voting into homecoming court. Lacey is the next victim who is found…

The Silver Eyes (Five Nights at Freddy’s #1) by Scott Cawthon & Kira Breed-Wrisley
Being an avid fan of the game franchise Five Nights at Freddy’s and the general lore behind the story, I was quite keen on giving this one a shot. Everything is not as it seems and it builds to crescendo revealing the story to be one of a supernatural intrigue. The story allowed us gamers to understand the backstory better and answered some questions left behind from the game itself. Charlie is the main heroine in this story, her Father owned a pizza restaurant called Freddy Fazbear’s. It had one big difference, Charlie’s father designed and built animatronic mascots to both serve and entertain the guests, mainly children. Along the…

Stain by A.G Howard
Once upon a nightmare, a princess was born in the kingdom of perpetual daylight-a fine-boned babe who killed her queenly mother upon her entrance to the world A.G. Howard I thought this was a very good take on the regular fairytale story with some dark gothic drama that had you questioning whether everything was as it first seemed. Lyra (the heroine) is a princess whom is named in a prophecy to be married to the Prince Vesper. The Prophecy foretells the two coming together to repair the two broken kingdoms and bringing balance once more to the Day kingdom, Eldoria and the night Kingdom, Nazereth. Lyra, doesnt have the capability…
