Wrath of the Land by Oli Jacobs
Wrath of the Land reads like an invitation to Lovecraft’s love child. Accomplished storytelling that ensures that Jacobs has a revered seat at the horror table. Wrath of the Land is yet again another stellar outing by Oli Jacobs. I’m not sure just how this author keeps getting better and better, but he simply does. He has developed his own brand of comedy horror and I felt this story is his best yet. The writing style reminded me of A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I won’t ever get over the feeling of familiarity every time I read one of Jacob’s stories. It emits a sense of coming home after…

Parachute by Holly Rae Garcia – REVIEW
Move over H.P Lovecraft there’s a new cosmic horror genius in town! A pitch black concept that beguiles and unnerves in equal measure Parachute came along at just the right time. In a genre that can be incredibly hard to stand out from the crowd, Holly Rae Garcia has done just that. She hasn’t just stood out but she’s floating into space. She has proven that stories can still be unique, can still scare you, it can make you fall in love with reading again. Horror is like a drug, well it’s my drug of choice. It stops me from catastrophising life, dwelling on all the hurt and anguish in…

Deep Down There by Oli Jacobs
Deep Down There. Nothing good ever comes from big black holes, whether it’s from the horrific type in space or massive sinkholes that wreak their havoc on earth, nothing. good. ever. happens. Order this book right now. I started reading at approximately 1 pm and by 4 pm I had finished, like a marathon runner trying to outdo their personal best, I needed to find out the why, the where, and the how. DO IT! Oli Jacobs can’t write a bad story, like seriously, everything I have read I have loved. He can shut me up with his sharp, witty, and alluring stories of the human condition and terrifying situations,…

Review : The Nothing That Is by Kyle Winkler
The Nothing That Is by Kyle Winkler was a huge surprise. Adrenaline and mystique keep the reader engaged. We get everything that we could possibly anticipate from an excellent Cosmic Horror. Winkler sets impossibly high standard from the get go. That exquisite level of imagination is continued throughout the novella. Trust Winkler and his vision, he doesn’t steer you wrong. The Nothing That Is is a creation that lives in the deepest recesses of a brilliant mind. His writing never once failed me. I love Cosmic Horror and the accuracy and shock value entranced me. The plot is a dangerous roller-coaster of strangeness and obscurity. It’s the perfect stage for…

The Worm and His Kings by Hailey Piper | ARC Review
The Worm and His Kings is quite frankly a phenomenal novella. It excels in its characterisation, which is by far, powerful. First and foremost, it is a novel about acceptance and identity. Monique, our protagonist, is a trans woman who has spent her entire life trying to fit in, to the detriment for her inner self. She tries to rectify that, an action that results in physical trauma. A story that highlights a world full of prejudice and hate. A cosmic horror novel that had me intrigued but had my search for answers going beyond the story, beyond the deeper meaning, beyond everything I thought I knew. Imagine losing the…
