Bookshelf Book Tag

It’s been a long time since I’ve got involved with a book tag post, but when I saw another blogger doing the Bookshelf Tag, I just knew it was something fun to get involved with.

I’m unaware of who originally started it but if you want to get involved too then consider yourself tagged!

HOW MANY BOOKSHELVES DO YOU HAVE?

Wow! What a question to start with! Not enough is the answer but currently I have 3 full floor to ceiling sized bookcases with a long one in the bedroom too – that’s where I keep all the special editions we own and ARC copies that mean something special to me. I have books scattered in piles pretty much everywhere though and my seven year old constantly ribs me about reading them before I get more…Ha!

HOW MANY BOOKS ARE ON YOUR BOOKSHELVES? OR HOW MANY BOOKS DO YOU HAVE?

Physical copies there are about 150 books on the shelves. I know way too many and I think I’ve lost the battle of being able to read them all before I get any more. I’m like the captain of the ship…I will go down on that TBR sinking ship. I also have a kindle full of books, I can’t ignore a 99p deal!

HOW DO YOU ORGANISE YOUR BOOKS?

I have each shelf organised by genre. I’d love to do the whole organising by colour but in all seriousness I neither have the patience or the time to devote to making it look amazing. So, genre’s it is. I have them organised by Fantasy, Horror and Crime/Thriller which is what I read and review predominately.

WHAT IS THE OLDEST BOOK ON YOUR SHELF?

That’s a hard one! I think the oldest book I have on my shelf is The First edition of A Game of Thrones by G.R.R. Martin. It was a rare find in a charity shop and I instantly grabbed it for the £5 price tag.

Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke by Eric LaRocca is a short but impactful novella at 103 pages.

WHAT IS THE PREDOMINANT GENRE ON YOUR SHELF?

Horror most definitely horror!

HAVE YOU DONE A BOOKSHELF TOUR?

Not yet but once it looks a bit better I will! HAHA

GO ON A RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR AND TALK ABOUT THE BOOK NUMBER IT CORRESPONDS TO.

I Spit Myself Out by Tracy Fahey. Synopsis – Eighteen unsettling narratives map the female experience from puberty to menopause. I Spit Myself Out is a collection of female-voiced stories exploring the terror that lurks beneath the surface of the skin.

In this collection, an Anatomical Venus opens to display her organs, clients of a mysterious clinic disappear one by one, a police investigation reveals family secrets, revenge is inked in the skin, and bodies pulsate in the throes of illness, childbirth and religious ritual.

Disturbing and provoking in equal turns, I Spit Myself Out reinvents the body as a breeding ground of terrors that resurface inexorably in the present.

DO YOU HAVE ANY FAN MERCHANDISE OR ANY OTHER DECORATIONS ON YOUR BOOKSHELVES?

We have lots of A Song of Ice and Fire merch. Quite a few Pennywise figurines. I need to add more but my reading can be quite obscure.
