Abominable Book Box | Review…It only keeps on getting stronger!
I have been a subscriber of many a book box but there is nothing more horrifically magical about The Abominable Book Box. I was searching for a horror box that would fufill the darkness in me and boy do the guys at Abominable have us covered. All genres of horror are covered and I have enjoyed discovering new and old reads through them for nearly a year. I cancelled all other book boxes as this has everything I could possibly need.
So grab a brew, get comfy and sit back and enjoy everything the guys at abominable have to offer!
A SWANKY NEW BOX
I didn’t think the packaging could get any better but this box art is everything and more. On brand and everything you could imagine contained within.
THE BOOK OF THE MONTH
The Bone Harvest by James Brogden. The cover is amazing and I can’t wait to read this. I’ve included the synopsis below to see if it also tickles your fancy.
Struggling with the effects of early-onset dementia, Dennie Keeling now leads a quiet life. Her husband is dead, her children are grown, and her best friend, Sarah, was convicted of murdering her abusive husband. After Sarah’s tragic death in prison, Dennie has found solace in her allotment, and all she wants is to be left to tend it in peace. Life remains quiet for twelve years, until three strangers take on a nearby plot and Dennie starts to notice unnatural things. Shadowy figures prowl at night; plants flower well before their time. And then Sarah appears, bringing dire warnings and vanishing after daubing symbols on the walls in Dennie’s own blood. Dennie soon realises that she is face to face with an ancient evil – but with her dementia steadily growing worse, who is going to believe her?
A PRETTY AWESOME XMAS CARD
The guys have gone over and above again for their customers. It was a really nice touch recieving a xmas card with December’s box. It was definetly a highlight of the box.
ACCURSED LIBRARY BOOK
As a massive fan of James Herbert it was pretty fucking awesome to get one of his pieces of art with the accursed library. For those that don’t know; The Accursed Library is the part of the box where you recieve a second -hand horror book, neatly wrapped up with a wax stamp…it’s beyond incredible. I have recieved some super vintage novels through the months. This probably the most exciting part of being a member of Abominable.
PIN
These pins that have recently gone into the box are awesome. I’ve got about 4 or 5 now and each one just keeps getting better – this is my favourite so far, alongside, the IT pin.
A CODE FOR AN E-BOOK
Occasionally you will have an e-book code thrown in and the christmas box as just that. I’ve read this book by Lou Yardley and absolutely recommend it but its just a testament to how versatile the items are in each box!
BLACK STATIC MAGAZINE
A speculative fiction magazine published in Britain. Some Well known authors have been published in it and i love reading it, especially on these dark, stormy nights we’ve been having lately.
Alongside ALL of these products, the guys treat us to snacks and fancy teas and coffees. You don’t just get one book a month, sometimes you get three. I for one will never get a book box anywhere else and you won’t get one that is more value for money. They are promoting horror and are super loyal to their customers. What more could you want?
