Monthly Reading Wrap-Up: October 2019
October is now over. Halloween is done and dusted and now all it seems is that we are on the downward spiral to xmas. This year has wizzed past at such a speed (Isn’t that such a british thing to say?) I’ve read some pretty cool spooky reads which I’ll list below so you can check them out. As the coke advert says: Holidays are coming!
Here’s What I’ve read this month:
The Demons Beneath (D.I Graves #1) by W.D. Jackson-Smart
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
The Other Daughter by Shalini Boland
Little Siberia by Antti tuomainen
Black Widow (Jack Parlabane #7) by Chris Brookmyre
Cage (Reykjavik Noir Trilogy) by Lilja Sigurðardóttir
Dazzled by Jane Harvey-Berrick
What We Do In The Night by Stylo Fantome
The Death And Life Of Penny Pitstop by Leopold Borstinski
Deadly Silence (Detective Jane Philips #1) by OMJ Ryan
Devils Deal by Tessa Hastjarjanto
Safe House by Jo Jakeman
BOOK OF THE MONTH

As it’s been a really great reading month it was incredibly difficult to chose my book of the month. The book which stood out the most was Deadly Silence by OMJ Ryan. The first chapter pulls you in and ensures that you are buckled in, ready for the ride of your life. The killer is methodical, intelligent and prepared for anything. Can Detective Philips and her team beat him, or will his final plan develop into fruition?
DISAPPOINTING BOOK OF THE MONTH

This was a majorly hyped book but I just couldn’t get along with it. I originally picked it up because it seemed to be all about the geek culture and 80’s pop culture. It wasn’t a memorable story and the story lacked depth. I think it’s success was down to the 80’s references but they didn’t seem to be for any purpose, they didn’t go anywhere. Oh well, you win some you lose some.
What did you read this month? Did you have any DNF’s or disappointing reads? Lets chat in the comments

I had a lot of DNF non fiction this month. I apparently missed on most of them!

I read 16 books this month and I liked most of them? I had only one 1-star book but it was a short graphic novel and the rest wasn’t below 3 stars so not that bad! 😀 Happy to hear it was a good month for you too!
