Reading Wrap-Up: August 2019
Well August has been and gone (seriously how fast is time going this year?) August was another good reading month despite it being summer holidays (boy am I happy schools back on and routine is king.)
Here’s what I read this month –
Deserve to die by Miranda Rijks
Clear My Name by Paula Daly
Magician by Raymond Feist
The Extinction Agenda by Micheal Laurence
Pan’s Labyrinth by Guillermo Del Toro & Cornelia Funke
My Name is Leon by Kit De Waal
Roam by Erik Therme
This Little Dark Place by A.S. Hatch
Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman
After The Flood by Kassandra Montag
Coral by Sara Ella
Normal People by Sally Rooney

BOOK OF THE MONTH
The most heartwrenching read of the month goes to After The Flood by Kassandra Montag. It’s harsh, its dark and utterly destroying. One of the best dystopian novels I have ever read. It’s the tale of a strong feminist character that protects her family no matter the cost. 5/5

DISAPPOINTING BOOK OF THE MONTH
I had a couple of disappointing books this month. Coral by Sara Ella was one I was really looking forward to but it really fell flat for me. The author tackled a very difficult topic – Mental Health. The author ended up writing the characters in a way that suggested that the only thing about them was the issue of their mental health, they came across wooden and 2D. Please, please don’t make your characters all about mental health, give them personalities too!
What did you read this month? Did you have many DNF’s or disappointing reads? Let me know in the comments.

I recently added Deserve To Die to my TBR, it sounds like a great read! I read 5 books in August and the best one was definitely The Muse. Have a lovely September!
