The Time & Place Book Tag
I’ve been doing some research over the last couple of weeks of the different type of blog posts I could do. A few days ago I came across The Time & Place Book Tag created by Jen Campbell via YouTube. This immediately interested me because it actually takes some thought about the why and where regarding your reading journey. It did challenge me but in a good way I think. I’m only going to be doing five books though.
Lets get started:
1- Frankenstein by Mary Shelly
The very first time I read this book was for Higher English. I felt delighted that I was in the class that had Frankenstein as our exam text because the other class got a random scottish text that was full of Old Scots so I was inwardly ecstatic. It was my first dip into the world of Classic literature and I instantly fell in love.

2- Monster Blood (Goosebumps #3) by R.L. Stine

My love for reading began with this series of books. This was released in 1992 but I was only 5 at the time! I picked them up when I was roughly around 9. I inhaled these books and was reading each one in about two days. I abused my library card to get these books, this was when my love of the horror genre began. Obviously I don’t find them scary now but as a nine year old girl these scared the shit out of me.
3- Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Long Way Home by Joss Whedon

Boy this was a blast from the recent past. Back in the day Buffy was amazing, at least my teenage brain did. This book came out in 2007 – I was pregnant with my first son so I can vividly remember buying this and immersing myself back in the Buffy world. Yep it was a shameless delve into the past but I loved it and it’s particularly memorable because I read it three days before I had my baby.
4- Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh

The popularity and infamous hype around Trainspotting passed me by at the time they were released I was just a young slip of a girl and didn’t even know they existed. Thank you world for giving us Mr Irvine Welsh. This was simply an absolute masterpiece. I read this (well more accurately inhaled) this book whilst travelling around Scotland via the Train for a few days. I even missed my stop and one point and had to travel back to Inverness which was 60 miles south again!
5- Game Of Thrones by George. R. R. Martin

WOW, this set of books have had a profound impact on my reading enjoyment and my journey into the Fantasy Genre. My Husband had already read the books and he introduced me to the TV show in 2014 and was constantly telling me that I “NEEDED TO READ THE BOOKS”. Who was I to deny him? I love these books and I need THE WINDS OF WINTER.
What about all of you? Can you remember where you read your favourite books for the first time? Let me know in the comments.

This is such a fun tag! And itβs great seeing Monster Blood on your list. I think my love of horror started with this series, too. That and the occasionally creepy Bailey School Kids series.

Yes Monster Blood is where it all started! This was a fun one to do.

I love this tag! Do you want to know something funny? It’s been years but I remember the way those Goodebumps books smelled. I’m not the only one who thinks they had a al distinctive smell, am I?
Yvonne
Yes, yes they did. I used to think that but wondered if I was just weird π

I read Frankenstein in grade 10! Interesting book, though a little dry IMHO. But better than Shakespeare as the alternative haha, so I feel you.
